#VIDEOBLOG VH1 Hip Hop Honors Review
The 90's Game Changers
I don't normally video blog or review television shows for that matter but I had so much to say about the VH1 Hip Hop Honors awards, I had to find a way to get it all out. For the first time ever I thought video blogging might be the best way to flush my ideas out and although it was a fun process it ended in a bit of devastation. I spent several days recording and editing so excited to debut my first video review and after piecing together a little over half of the video with at probably 30 more minutes of footage to sift through the final videos with some of my best material were all fucked up. Totally useless LMAO! The audio was out of sync with the video and although I could possibly figure this whole thing out, I have bigger fish to start writing about #TheTWENTIESBook #comingsoon. Major shout out to the video bloggers that I watch who post on consistent basis #TheSkorpionShow #FunkyDineva #JustinJ1232 just to name a few because they make it look so easy and I can assure you that it is most certainly not. Talented talk, shooting, editing, uploading, all of it is very time consuming so I don't take lightly the work it takes to perfect this particular medium as an outlet or source of income. Salute!
I decided to post my unfinished video because honest feedback is the only way to learn what I can do better to strengthen and continue to grow The TWENTIES brand and content, so give me the best that you got! Comments, feedback, advice on useful programs and editing tools are all appreciated as I work towards perfecting this content platform for future communication with all of you. I hope that each of my followers can share and learn in the journey from failures to accomplishments so instead of trashing the video I would rather know if this is something you all would be interested in, if I can get it together. Not to mention I spent four freaking days on the shit so somebody needs to see it LOL. Transparency and allowing people to be educated by the imperfections of building a business and being fearless enough to try something new and unfamiliar is how we can all grow together. As opposed to taking a complete loss on the video I'm opting for the lesson and asking all of you to be a part of that experience.
It feels a little ironic to begin my video sharing experience with a VH1 program review because I watch a ton of trash television on the same network, week after week, and never felt the need to document my thoughts outside of a live tweet - but here I am so let's get right into it. Nostalgia kept me committed more than anything else to watching the VH1 Hip Hop Honors until the tragic end (oh yes Mariah, you tired it) but I have to admit that I didn't absolutely hate it. You know it's a toss up every time with VH1 but this television event was at least tolerable. I acknowledge with all my complaining about the network I could've spent my time reviewing a substantially more popular program but I don’t have time for leftovers. I could’ve easily gushed over the beautiful fashion and many well-deserved, not to mention monumental wins for the culture that took place at this year's Emmys, but let's get real - SIXTY-NINE award shows in and African-Americans and people of color for the first and second time ever are just being recognized for their contributions to entertainment? All I have to say is ABOUT DAMN TIME! As pleased as I am to see progress, how far have we actually come and how ecstatic would like for me to be?
I'd much rather shoot the shit with my community, reminiscing over times we had through an award program that highlights the undeniable impact we've had as opposed to what we've done for you lately (Shoutout Janet!). With all that said, although this attempt to integrate videoblogs as a new form of communication with The TWENTIES followers wasn't as successful as I would've hoped, I'm excited learn and exercise this platform more with the help and support of all of you and I thank all you for putting up with me through this trail run. There were many initial critiques I even had for myself as I complied the video but I am interested to hear the input of others as I am aware there is much work to be done to make this a useful tool for creating content.
Leave a comment and let me know your thoughts. Should I invest in doing more professionally shot review videos in the future? Maybe, Who knows? But until then...
